how is this not computing?
So you think that rather than going ahead with the plans they already have, Dodge will throw a Ferrari chassis under the new Viper? Aside from cheapening Ferrari with that move, I'd like to see them fit that 8.4 V10 into a Ferrari chassis. What would they use? 612 is way too big.

Oh, wait! So you think they're going to make a 599 with different panels and a V10 engine? Funny joke!
If I could snatch up a 700 hp v10 powered 599 for 80k, why would I want a GTO?

And no, you got me.
I thought GM owns Fiat.
Which owns Mercedes and Porsche.
And they have 60% stake in Lamborghini and Tata.
And the only other big car company is BMW.
What about Chery? Are they owned by Nissan?

Seriously dude, what kind of a fvcking question is that?

so you think they can just go ahead with the plans they already have? nevermind that the company that owns those plans is no longer a part of chrysler. ferrari has been sharing the parts bin with maserati for some time now, has that cheapened the brand?

Most of the companies sold off recently here in the U.S. have been able to keep and produce their current and upcoming plans.
The new Saab 9-5 is a prime example.
I assume that legally, Dodge also has the rights to a design that they helped create. But I could be wrong.

And there is a difference between Maserati and Dodge, but even in the case of Maserati I'd say slightly. They made Ferrari parts more easily obtained. Which in turn made the Ferrari parts less exclusive.

we're talking merc though, i highly doubt they would sell off plans of the SLS to help spawn a competitor for the SLS.

i think in this day and age platforms/motors must have more than one application to remain profitable. the days of bespoke chassis are numbered.

Well what I'm saying is that if Dodge helped develop the plans to the SLS, legally they might be entitled to use it also. Unless during bankruptcy, the plans were 100% sold off to Mercedes. I can't seem to find that elusive bit of info.
