Well, I've been looking for a cheap car, our company gets Ford X-Plan pricing so its a good option.

Coming from a BMW M3, I want something fast. It seems like the new 5L Mustang would fit the bill in that I can spec it fully and it still comes in at under $40K, its fast, handles well (according to all the reviewers) and I can use it on road and track easily.

Am I kidding myself that its such a good car?

Other options are spend $5K less and get a Camaro, spend the same and get a 4 year old Z06 or spend $10K more and get a 5 year old 911 Carrera S.

So you can see why the 2011 Mustang is such an interesting concept, it looks like it can do road and track fantastically for the price, its a proper American car, it'll be brand new, the interiors look good from web pics.

Basically I'm after some owner comments/thoughts.

According to all the reviews of the 2011, this thing actually turns corners!!

I'd like some real owner feedback on that though

This may be a no-brainer but I thought it may be worth mentioning if I'm not mistaken the Z06 and 5.0 will both be cheaper to run than an 05 911 as a daily.

As far as X plan is concerned, jogging my memory I think it's invoice + 1% or 3%. Meaning they still get money over invoice plus their hold back. I am never in favor of eating into hold back (remember you want good service, so your sales guy has to eat for that to happen) but I'd see what kind of deal you can negotiate without X plan first. Obviously invoice would be cheaper.

However, the dealer that services our trucks has indicated they are doing quite well sales wise, considering they were doing 200+ cars a month in this market I'd say that's fair... So I would see how negotiable the dealer is first.

Sorry I don't have driving feedback but I did want to mention that about X plan.

Good info on the X-Plan, thanks!!

Why do you say the 5.0 and Z06 would be cheaper to run?

The 997 911s are on 20K service intervals.

You mean parts etc?
