You ever install the Challenge grill? I was wondering how it fit and if it went in without fit/mounting issues.

Best of luck sorting the transmission issues.

sorry bro, i did not yet still have it at home in the box.
i will definitely update once it is on, but for your peace of mind: on Fchat the Prosport grille gets excellent reviews with zero issues yet. there was even a package that was damaged in shipping and they sent him a new one (i think it was that easy from what i read).

as for the gearbox: i will be hearing by tomorrow from the AD about whether or not i will need a new TCU. that would ROYALLY suck, like $3k suck!
sometimes i think i love 355s just too much, but then i think what better things (including people?) are there to love
fingers crossed that i won't be needing a new TCU, because that will mean me going into bachelor-boursachi mode with the shop my car was at (who ruined two pumps, and could have also ruined my TCU) and that won't be good for anybody, firstly myself

everything else i am 100% fine with, clutch/sensor/throwout/pump/rpm sensor/alum plate .. i am totally for keeping my cars mint inside/out and mechanically, but if those fvckers expect me to dish out $3k for something that THEY ruined because they were trial/error testing on my car then they've got another thing going

Don't get super-mad, bro! We don't want to hear about you in the news
Usually love is expensive, but another 3k... damn. I hope you won't need the new TCU. Keep us posted!

and sure enough, i might need a new TCU. who was i kidding hoping i wouldn't lol..
we are working on finding a tester TCU to make absolutely certain without any doubt.
all wiring was checked, new sensor plugged in, still get that error. bypass it with the SD1, so the computer is commanding the gearbox and not the CU.

spoke with the Independent shop, told them that i will be there tomorrow and it will be best if the mechanic is not in the same room and i was blunt about the reason: because i WILL fvck him up if he talks back to me

the saga continues

1. will go ahead with the TCU order on AD's responsibility (they do not have a tester + could not find a donor).
i will only pay them if it gets the car up and running like before. cool deal.

2. have been speaking with Independent Shop owner. he has been a TRUE CLASS ACT.
he, rightfully imho, countered the AD's prices i gave him with prices he can find the parts for online. i told him that makes sense and i will speak with him once the TCU is installed since he is not supposed to buy me the warranty that comes with the higher price of the TCU from the AD. his understanding and willingness to accept that it might be his mechanic's fault has led me to even consider not asking for anything and have a firm handshake and have him as a lifelong friend.

unfortunately the TCU can only be ordered on monday, and the expectation is that it will arrive saturday 24th (if i am lucky) so that's ANOTHER whole week of nothingness

i am very proud of the fact that i have contained myself and acting like a grown up father and family man, and i am sincerely praying that a new TCU will put all the parts together and i get my car back for the cool weather

Finally they didn't fvck you over, like they seemed to have done before!

Damn, another wait. I hope your next post will inform us that the car is done. I'm sure you can't wait to get the TCU

Good luck boursachi. I dealt with some issues with my car recently that put it out of commission for nearly 4 months (and it's still not perfect). I hope the shop takes care of you in the end, they must understand how frustrating it is for you to be left waiting this long after dumping so much cash into the car.

At least you've got your new porsche to cruise around in!

6 months since i decided it was time to bring the car to tip top shape.
1 month plus since i have taken it to the dealer.

today is the big day when a new TCU goes in and the car will be checked.
from this point onwards, i really have no idea what else i can do i think i deserve a break already and just have this thing work

it's going to be a looong wait for that AD call

Man, after reading through this thread and your 993 thread I have to say, your dedication and passion ranks right at the top. The amount of time, effort and thought you have put in to just these 2 cars alone is insane. And I know you are loving every second of it. Thanks for sharing your car insanity and all the work you have done!

It takes a true enthusiast to stick with it for this long.

It sounds like you're really closing to getting the F355 back in working order though man!
