Spied: McLaren's New Supercar - The P12

Mclaren may be as few as 250 units , think they will both fly out the door unless they screw it up like Porsche seem to have with the Prius , sorry I meant 918

Surprised they're not going with a different engine to differentiate this from the MP4-12C a bit more. If all they did was tweak the engine, I don't think it'd be too long before you start seeing 900hp MP4's. But I suppose using the same basic engine was quicker, easier and less costly.

Simple really, my friens friend is a Mclaren dealer and has 3 cars allocated unofficially, and 1 is mine. But so far nothing formal, but this is how it always works with "pre preorders". And when you are a regular customer, this engagement is pretty firm, at least i or anyone in my family had issues. If u say u buy it, that moment it becomes real. But you really have to know the right person and have good transaction history.
For early cars it is all abou relationships. There are plenty of resellers who have the professional activity of buying early released cars and selling at a premium and a normal customer is at a disadvantage since those people move alot of cars and have great proximity to dealers. For ex, if i went to my local dealer now he would have no info and be in no position to make any promises.
Aaaaaanyway, i know some people who know some pweople who ....
u get the idea. It is silly but this is how it goes. It is like always getting a table at a fully booked trendy club.
Sorry for the boring and somewhat obvious explanation, but it is what it is.

A tree seat configuration is a problem becouse, with the actual safe regulations, the car will be so wide as an Airbus 380.
But you always can buy a HTT Plethore LC-750 (McRae's avatar), a car that is wide as Jupiter and has a three seat configuration. (What a monster!)

If no one had told me that this was the mega mac then I would be certain that this was a 12C spyder. Same front end, same body lines, larger front window since the roof needs to be smaller, revised rear to better deal with the folding top and cooling requirements, blah blah blah. Time will tell.

Not that important but different wing mirrors also!

I agree - the journos have got this right and the photos definitely show our first real pitcures of a P12 mule but everything is not as it seems or as it will be on the final product.
The 12C front end is definintely a dummy part. Those taillamps are likely functional where we see them on this mule but they're clearly a take-off of the 12C as well and I doubt if we'll see them carry over directly onto the P12 - certainly not in that position anyway. The wing mirrors seem to be borrowed from something as well, or are simply mockups - I don't think they're part of the final product either.
I'm less concerned about the styling and more curious about all the good things lurking underneath the skin. I hope they've increased the displacement of the engine as opposed to simply adding more boost. I'm very interested to see how they have integrated some form of KERS or hybrid power. I'm also excited to see what other tricks they've employed to increase the performance envelope. That rear diffuser looks like it may have some active component to it and I'm sure we'll see a similar active rear spoiler as is featured on the 12C. I wonder too if the active aero will carry over to the front of the car. Something else I've seen leads me to believe that it will indeed.
Anyway - exciting times to be a McLaren fan, that's for sure!
