I am told 500 cars @ ~US$1 million

 

So, apparently, a new report indicates the car will be privately unveiled at Pebble Beach.

Can anyone confirm this?

 

It's nuts, isn't it? My old 5.0 (in the way-back of the early 90s) had 205 hp and 245 lb-ft, and my parents were convinced I was going to die in it. 0-60 (stock)? Mid 7s.

 

That would be interesting (and great, actually). Would not surprise me. Curious about if anyone's heard anything, as well.

I'ts logic. McLaren (in general) shows it's cars even a year after th model enters into production. The reason is to test the XPs (experimental prototypes) with no camo to make a perfect final product. It's a very important car and should be perfect. An unveiling in Pebble Beach or at Paris Motor Show can be better than a Geneva unveiling. But for me sounds early.

I don't think any kind of private reveal at Pebble Beach is in the cards. I spoke to the head of the P12 Program in Italy during the McLaren F1 Tour and we spoke directly on this subject and he told me it would not be there. Perhaps things have changed in those two months but I am pretty skeptical of that report.

I was hearing it was going to be around 870BHP? 1000BHP would be real crazy....

 

I do admit I am more excited for this than the Enzo replacement.
