Thanks!
The F1 has been my passion for nearly a decade and in that time I've tried very hard to learn as much as I can about the car. I've had a lot of help along the way and it's been a fun diversion. I'm glad that others are interested to hear things about the history of these wonderful cars and that's why I'm typically happy to share what I know.

Have any members driven a F1? It would be great to hear first hand comparisons to the CGT, F40 or the like. What is the clutch like? Is the steering heavy as hell at low speeds? I heard they had a real issue with overheating in real world driving environments but out of the 48 pages in this thread, I haven't heard anything about overheating at all.
Based on what I heard about Alex's driving ability in a certain CGT, I wonder if he could even get a F1 rolling? LOL

Small correction - "Welt" is the German word for "World". The Classics warehouse is located in Munich, Germany.
The article mentions that Classics is just a short distance from "BMW Museum and Welt" - they are referring to the primary BMW Museum that is open to the public.

Eric,
Thanks for the extra information around the GTR Art Car.
In the current Sport Car Market issue, they are discussing the recent sale of Chassis 062thru Gooding & Co in Monterey this past August for close to $3.6m. The author is also referring the last Mclaren F1 sale thru a major auction being London in 2008 for close to $4m.
I don't recall much detail about the car sold in London. Could you elaborate on that one?
Also Chassis 062 being (ex?) Larry Ellison's car and the car showing during the Monterey sale that it is very much being driven around, I would love to hear more about it.
Finally, the author of the SCM article - if I recall correctly - indicates that he is a current owner as well.
Well, since I already requested quite a lot of your time to have a feel about the current market for the F1, could you also indicate as far as you know which chassis are currently for sale and confirm - or not - the rumor on LM3 exchanging hands for $3.5m to $4m ballpark figure. I believe you are quite familiar with LM3.
Thanks again Eric.
Best Regards.

Well I was 99% positive up until October 18th 2008 and then I was 100% positive after that point if that counts for anything.
I also have the chassis number of his road car now but unfortunately it was shared in confidence so I'm not at liberty to pass it along. I do have a feeling it won't be a secret for too much longer though.
