Z3 M Coupé Resto and Engine Rebuild !
#84
Head gasket will be replaced AGAIN although it was replaced the first time. Head is practically new after the new refurbishing. I am not taking any chances...
Tomorrow, the new head will go in and we will hopefully start the engine the next day or Friday latest.

After a a long break, here's a little update,
Replacing the valves cured the noise problem but the idle was still problematic so we calibrated the individual throttle bodies. As it turns out while we dismantled it to clean throughly we over tighten some of the springs so they were not opening evenly hence the rough idle. After a little fine tuning she ran like a champ.
Here is a short video of the first start -up,
Then we started reassembling some of the new parts like water bottle, radiator heat shields, o2 sensors, additional fan, bits of interior (center console etc.)

airbox in all its glory

Later on, we moved on to closing of the disastrous holes of the hood pins. The holes are filled before paint.
,
With these works, we arrived at the final stage which will include ; adding a cat for comfort ( way too loud now that the turbo is off )
Fine tuning the Alpha N Tuning on the ECU
Painting the hood and bumpers ( due to stone chips and aero stuff mount holes )
Reconditoning the interior and adding a few new touches...
Aiming to finish all in 2 weeks and then off to break-in drives hopefully. Thanks for watching...
