Spied: BMW M6 Gran Coupe
BMW puts the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG on notice

Our trusty Teamspeed spies show us for the first time the production BMW M6 Gran Coupe spied during testing! The beautiful 6-series Gran Coupe is a sedan-coupe take on the F13 6-series coupe. The car is rumored to become true Mercedes CLS AMG-fighter when it will hit show rooms this fall.

Equipped with the sophisticated 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 known from the X5 and X6 M versions, the new M6’s motor will develop roughly 570 to 580 hp. The car was snapped in Munich earlier today, and the prototype was riding on giant 20-inch wheels, but we reckon that yet bigger ones will be available as options.

BMW U.S. spokesman Dave Buchko confirmed to Motor Trend the other day that the M6 Gran Coupe will debut in 2013, but he couldn’t offer any additional information. The car will be sold around the world, including in the U.S. market.

I think the M cars are losing their identity a bit. Following AMG with heavy cars with big motors. So the M5 is another E63 and this is a CLS63

 

Utterly pointless

 

I actually like the gran coupe and think that an M version of it is a great idea to compete with the amg CLS

 

I don't particularly like the direction they've taken the M division with SUVs and giant sedans, but from a business perspective if they don't build them, people will go to Merc and hand them their money. The fact is there is a certain niche of people who will pay $100k+ for a big car with a giant motor even if they are sporting it for the badge and rarely wring it out. So they say fine, if you insist, we'll build it, give us your money.

The frustrating part is then they build a tiny allotment of 1-series Ms that now go for way over MSRP due to scarcity.

 

M Grand Coupe is going to be nice, dear I say this over M5? Choices are nice though.

 

Not bad but I would still EASILY chose a cls amg over this...
