When those in charge care more about features than the driving experience we know we won't be getting true driver's cars much longer (though the current crop of M cars are pretty soft as it is).

Miss the point much?

I'm AMAZED the 1M made it through that kind of BS.
You're right.

I think that any BMW M should be a drivers car and not for posers. And they should be able to have an manual.

Look at the BMW 1M, it's awesome and it's made for one purpose: fun.
An automatic gear is useful if you're going to drive 50 miles a day, every day.
But I understand why people do want a manual gear in their M3 or M5, it doesn't matter that you are going to be slower, it's all about the fun-factor.

I think BMW M division nailed the market with the first two generation M5's. Wolves in sheepish clothing and just completely raw to drive. No manual available for an M-car? I just don't know. I mean, DCT is a nice gadget, no doubt, but it's the same thing that turns me off to the Nissan GTR.

I have a strange feeling that as cars evolve, I'm going to want to keep my current stable more and more. Future seems pretty bleak for upgrades, IMO...
