Really...You would buy your teenage Daughter an M3 for her first car? Pay $3500 for the insurance etc…That would be like putting a fully loaded gun in 2 years old hand. That would not end well according to statistics.
Getting back to question. If money was not an issue (which in this case we are talking about $50K more if new) then a Carrera 2. But based on the demographics of people who buy BMWs/M3s that is usually the top of there budget if even that’s possible. Don't see too many 20-30 something’s being able to afford a Carrera 2 if we are assuming new in both cases. I not saying that can't buy one or more likely lease one but "afford" is a different scenario altogether. I would also assume that to be the case with a new M3 as well. But people do it all the time. No shortage of stupidity in this country that’s for sure.

I agree... but you mentioned it. I don't even know you if have Daughter but I do and she is 16. I guess it seemed to be a little close to home to think that a 16 year old child would be behind the wheel of a powerful vehicle like an M3. A Cobalt and Cooper are sort of more visual and realistic.

you're kidding right? carrera s bottom of the line? in many people's estimation it is the best buy in the porsche line up (albeit with a manual gearbox)
