It seems to be more of a cultural thing from what I see in this thread. Porsches are a dime a dozen here. Three female colleagues of mine have Carrera S's as DD, and I only see an M3 once a month. I think the sudden wealth created from 2004-2008 boosted Carrera sales and not so much for BMW M sales, which indicates that Porsches were (and still remain) the most popular purchase choice.

M3. I think overall for the price you get more goodies such such a nice sounding high revving v8 engine, extensive aftermarket parts. Not many cars can touch a FI M3 V8. when it comes to the top end models like the Gt3,gt2, etc, then that is a different story..

i took the m3 over the 911s as MC321 said a Porsche nowadays is like owning a crown Victoria in the states such a typical car. 4 of my cousins own 911s's actually one has the Turbo .. but my point is being different.. + im an M fan .. unless its a GT3 then thats a different story .. p.s. ive made my choice way be4 i started this thread (never ever regretted my choice, the m3 is such a loud toy) .. and the white m3 in the attached pic is mine

E46 M3! Hamad - your car is fantastic mashallah -- but the e46 M3 still holds the key to my heart.
But remaining on-topic -- I would go for a Porsche C2S pdk over the M3. I test drove the one at the dealers when it first arrived (the black demo car coupe 6MT) and wasn't impressed. It sounded great (like the E39 M5 always should have sounded like) - but performance-wise it didn't make me smile as I would have liked to. Maybe a quick spin with you would change my mind - maybe next time when i bump into you at Lilou hehe
