The 911 carrera is a better sports car but there's something about driving the M3 and hearing the shriek of that high-revving V8 that makes me love that car so much! I took time to bond with it but once you hook up that umbilical cord, the M3 will dazzle and for that I don't regret getting it even for a second.

i'd rather get the M3 as a daily driver. But if you already have a good DD, then go with the Carrera!

im sorry but those two cars aren't competitors price wise, dynamics wise, or status wise.

Really...You would buy your teenage Daughter an M3 for her first car? Pay $3500 for the insurance etc…That would be like putting a fully loaded gun in 2 years old hand. That would not end well according to statistics.

Getting back to question. If money was not an issue (which in this case we are talking about $50K more if new) then a Carrera 2. But based on the demographics of people who buy BMWs/M3s that is usually the top of there budget if even that’s possible. Don't see too many 20-30 something’s being able to afford a Carrera 2 if we are assuming new in both cases. I not saying that can't buy one or more likely lease one but "afford" is a different scenario altogether. I would also assume that to be the case with a new M3 as well. But people do it all the time. No shortage of stupidity in this country that’s for sure.
