Talk to me about M3s
#31
So I'm considering "downsizing" my ridiculous car habit and getting an M3 for my full-time, every day car (i.e. sell the 911). It'd cut my car budget significantly which would enhance my gun/vacation/etc. budget.
Would I be completely disappointed? Would I fall in love? It would be a build-to-order car with most of the options minus the cold weather package and 19s (and yes, it'd be a manual).
The other car in the same price range I'd consider is the GT-R. I know I like it, but I think a 6-speed M3 might be more fun.
Stoppie - any idea how bad I'll get hammered dumping the 911?
Thanks in advance for humoring me...

Have you considered sating your GT3 craving with a nice 7.1? Market is $8X,XXX, even with low miles, PCCB, jazzed up interior, etc. You could pick one up and then get an R32 or something similar as an AWD everyday car since you seem to like AWD availability...

Umm, I'm not picking up a client in an M3 or a GT-R. Remember, this is a daily driver. For me, personally, it's not a possibility as I work with people that are much older than I am AND I personally view these cars as "age specific"...M5, no problem...E63, no problem...M3 = problem for me. That said, Chris can probably pull it off without a problem.

Ah, now we're into the downside of M3 ownership (and why I've never owned one before). The stigma is a hard one to shake. The frustration for me is that I buy cars that interest me either because of their performance or their engineering, etc. (hence my Evo, S2K, etc.), not because of the image. People that know me will vouch that I didn't buy my 911 because it was a Porsche. I bought it because of what it represents - high technology, excellent build quality, strong heritage, etc.
My problem is that I have serious car ADD. My wife has been great at keeping me grounded, but the urge is definitely there. Where's Car Whores Anonymous when you need them!??!?

^I definitely respect your ability to look past the stigma associated with many (nearly every) car out there. I've admitted this before, but its worth noting that part of the reason I didn't get a 335i was the "snob-appeal" (at least thats what it was called 2 year ago) of BMWs. Infiniti was, and still is not quite considered in the same breath as BMW/MB/Lexus/Audi, but its on the same level of quality/comfort/performance as far as I'm concerned. Best of both worlds imo (quality, etc while being somewhat low-key).

I didn't know you wanted to join the club! We are always looking for new members! PM me for the membership form. It's easy to fill out. We just need your name, DOB, SSN, Bank Acct. #'s, etc and how many you want to try(buy) each year. it's kinda like the beer of the month club. You get a new one every so often (please send back your empties for recycling), and we bill you until you tell us to stop.

Oh, and how about a B8 S4, something you could keep around once you get the 12' GT3?

I'm the same way Chris. Sometimes you just want something different. I didn't really care about the image of the average M3 driver, nor did I drive around revving and doing fly-bys. It was a hell of a fun car to drive though. How about getting a 1 year old car to save on the depreciation, since after a while, I know you will want something different. I sold my M3 and bought the M5 to save money. It's been 5 months and i'm already itching to get something different again.
