The problem with older BMW's & Porsches is that when things break, they cost huge $$$$ to fix. If you need something cheap and reliable that is inexpensive to maintain and run, look no further than something from Honda or Toyota.
80's Porsche, BMW or MBZ = money pit. If you do decide to go that route, make sure your best friend is a German car mechanic who has access to cheap used parts for those cars. A $1,000 635 CSI could easily end up needing a $4,000 transmission......

True, a 944 is much better on so many levels. I guess it boils down to if a person plans to DD the car for commuting. There is nothing worse than being Mr. "Sorry-I'm-late-to- work-again, my-car-broke-down-again-this-morning" guy......
