I have been working out for about 3 and a half years now and it's the best thing there is. When I started out lifting weights I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, my body positions were bad and my muscle groups were all over the place schedule-wise. It's unbelievable how much difference it makes to have an experienced trainer show you the right form and movements, it's the smallest details that make all the difference. One of the most important things when you train is to eat well, and eat consistently! It's much better to eat 4 or 5 small meals per day than eating 2 big meals, your energy levels are much more stable that way and you don't have big energy downs. There are so many advantages to working out, it helps in everything you do throughout the day, combine that with cardio and it's incredible. I also realized people make so many excuses for their laziness, claiming they don't have the time to work out. All that time you spend on facebook and texting and watching tv you could go to the gym. People who expect pills and cheap diets to do the work for them, you gotta put some of your own into it. Don't get me wrong there are some good diets out there, or eating habits should I say but combined with regular exercise you get even better results and get fit at the same time.
I haven't been to the gym for 1 and a half weeks now because of a cold and I feel like shit, I feel guilty as I'm typing this right now thinking about it. Consistency will get you where you want, as SoCal said it's a lot of maintenance and upkeep but it's my training routine that keeps me sane, I can't ever imagine myself stopping all exercise, I would get so depressed. You have to be steady in your workouts, no half-assing things.
Zorro, I ride mx too and if there is one thing I can recommend to you is to get yourself a gym subscription and train your legs and lower back, heck all of your body. I ride an ltr-450 and I can throw it around so much better now, not to mention I have a lot more stamina and endurance. Riding the quad itsself is a workout, summer can't come soon enough. Riding season is coming soon!

^although that is extremely funny, i'll get back on topic..
1) I usually workout every day but sunday, and switch between this and conditioning
2) start with about 20 mins of quality stretching
3) body weight squats (as many as I can do)
4) Lunges one length of the floor (about 50 yards)
5) Jump stops full length of the floor(jump as far as you can, and land on one leg as soft and quiet as you can)
6) With a partner, I put a thick flat rope around my waist and run as fast as I can, while my partner tries to hold me back
7) Plank push-ups (as many push-ups as I can do, then on the last one, hold steady in the down position for 30 secs
8) jumprope for 2-4 mins
9) Pull-ups as many as I can do (wide arm full body weight)
10) assisted pull-ups, usually about 30lbs, and again do as many as I can
11) to cool down- exercise ball pikes (have your feet on the ball, about at your shins, be in push-up position, and lift your butt up in the air until your toes are on the top of the ball)
12) box jumps (usually 1, 2, and 3 feet high)
13) done, enjoy water
The whole thing usually takes about an hour

Making some big changes in my life currently and started back at the gym. I am not looking to get jacked but toned up and all around fitness.
Been doing 60 mins of Cardio 3-4 times a week and light weights 3-4 times a week. Also trying to eat alot better, chicken breast for lunch and dinner but still hitting some Chicago Pizza and Portillos Beef 1-2 a week to keep me sane.
This has been going since I moved back from Florida to Chicago a few weeks back. I feel great, don't wanta sleep in all the time, and have a positive attitude to alot of things that used to bug me.
