Bwahahahaha! Dude, don't take me seriously. Ever since I got married and stopped working out religiously, I am no longer the pull-up champ that I was.

Was in decent shape when I was in college. Started med school and fitness slowly started taking a back seat.....okay, it ended up being dragged behind the car. Probably gained about 40 lbs of pure fat over the ensuing 16 years. Just turned the dreaded 40 last month. Decided 6 months ago that I was tired of looking and feeling like sh*t. Still can't nail down the diet thing, but I've been able to hit the gym 3-5 times a week, despite the new job, busy home life, and being plagued by knee, elbow, and wrist tendonitis For you younger bucks, enjoy your youth because your body simply doesn't recover from injury as well or as fast.

I'd say you look to be in pretty damn good shape. I can help you with the diet if you're interested.

Gln, I wouldn't call you bloated, lol.

Bonehead, I'm beat up like crazy from sports. Just gotta know:

NEVER skip warmups
Know how to work around injuries
Know when to lay off a few days or even weeks

Thanks SoCal. I am very interested, but it's not a matter of interest more so than feasibility of adhering to a plan. Would like to hear what you have to say.

Agreed, BS. Always do 1, not the best at 2, and very bad at 3 Not knowing when I'll be able to get back to the gym again, I go back even if I probably need to let myself recover a bit longer.

When I am eating to stay in great shape (primarily overseas haha), I buy all of my food a week in advance and prep most of it that day. For lunches and dinners, I prep 10 #'s of boneless/skinless chx breast per week. I cut off all fat, and then cut it into ~1" cubes, and toss it all into a tupperware container. I eat it 2x daily with grilled veggies, garbanzo beans (chick peas), and a handful of almonds for lunch, and in a leafy green salad with extra-virgin olive oil as my dressing. I sprinkle a lot of pepper on it. I also buy eggs about 36 at a time and eat 5 each morning; 4 egg whites and one whole egg, scrambled together and topped with green peppers and Cholula hot sauce. I also do a serving of Steel-cut oats and a handful of almonds, with a 1/2 glass of OJ and 1/2 glass of fat-free milk. I eat these same meals daily, 7 days a week, for months on end. It is all in the prep work: i.e.- cutting the chx up, prepping veggies the night before, etc.

Develop a routine and you are more prone to stick to the plan than to fail.

Yowza. Very Adkins-like. I could maybe do that very short term, but months on end? I'll admit I'm too weak for that Gotta have more variety, and more importantly, more carbs, or I'll definitely cheat and fail.

Chickpeas are not used in Atkins, that's carbs baby! But low GI.

There are plenty of complex carbs in the veggies and oats, just not the ones that most people like. My diet is more Zone than Atkins, but I do prefer high protein, medium fat, lower carbs. Keeps me full of energy and fuel and ready to go. I just hate eating like that when I'm here in the States.
