991 gt3

I highly doubt Porsche sold the cars thinking there were "kinks" with the car. I just think that the 9A1 isn't good just yet. That's why they aren't racing the motor. It's not made for racing. It's a street motor. In the no so distant past, the street and race motors were very similar.
I had a very in depth conversation with some Porsche Heavies about what the actual difference was between the Cup Car and the 997.2 GT3 RS. Their answer was "hardly anything" and I was shocked. And sold.

our uk dealear has customers cars back, my man tells me Porsche aren't saying nothing!! I think that's whats getting on peoples nerves being kept in the dark. most people except an honest answer!! also iv'e been told today that because iv'e been buying gt3/rs since 996 our dealer will be told by porsche who may get the rs.....out of there hands apparently!!so much for customer loyalty and that's after placing a deposit at the launch of the 991...roll on huracan .

as you may re call from last year my rs turned up in a condition that you would expect from a back street garage.....with damaged paint leather, and lots more, Porsche gb excepted that this wasn't exceptable and offered me a new car. but Porsche only allocated 26 and wouldn;'t build another. gb lent me the car on loan while they hassled the factory but no joy.they then bought it back at ticket price, what really got me 4.0 were selling for 50k over list price and I promised the boss I wouldn't sell it out of principal being a customer for 15 years....then I'm told today I may not get a rs anyway!! so much for principals. like other members here agree ther'e going to far into the main stream car brands and not caring for what built them in the first place. the 4.0 was a keeper and maybe I should of put up with the fit and finish, I strive for quality with my companys so should they!!

That's the nut of it right there. First they carve out this unique niche, then turn around and basically give the finger to all existing owners by not offering a manual option. Then they undercut it further by severing the link between the GT3 Cup and street cars by installing a completely different motor.

Nevertheless, I fully agree with your current analysis of the situation..and like you - Im leaning more or more towards Lamborghini. Speaking about corporate business decisions, if they offer a manual - it could be the best decision ever for them. They could steal a lot of former GT3 customers from Porsche..

PCNA phoned me today, production has been COMPLETELY halted until Porsche Engineering Department does a complete evaluation of the situation. This is not the same as the US Delivery freeze for on ground cars, this is straight out of Stuttgart.

it seems we all have the same opion on these issues, from engine problems and to where the company is going, the appeal of the gt3 was you were driving a road car that was pretty much a race car and that made it special......I think the exclusive salesman at Frankfurt last year summed it up when I mentioned the details were coming away on the new ceramic brakes/hubs.... he shrugged his shoulders and said ''so'' mmmmm it's a real shame that! I agree with you jumping horse in the uk a lot of Porsche guys steer to Lamborghini not Ferrari, maybe due to the german audi connection and there really coming on with there cars, exclusive and small enough to care, any future lightweight gt is going to be hard to beat....I'm sure it will be fantastic.

i heard chris bought a ff...

Yeah I heard that. By drive I meant test - should've been more clear.
I suspect it's no coincidence that you haven't seen a 458 Speciale review from CH.
Personally, I respect him more than I already did for calling Ferrari out but it does appear to have cost him some access.

He called them out but he still road tested the F12 per UK test press fleet and the 458 Spyder video was alot of fun! The Speciale review will come.
