We also have a 06. They stopped selling them in the US in 05 due to the whole side airbag requirement.

I thought such cars existed everywhere - they were just later builds (maybe technically 06) but still considered MY05?

1270 cars, what is the highest # in the USA, anybody have a clue?

No 06's in the US. It was simple the last handful of cars were made from Spare Parts Bins. The Owners manual actually states do not drive above 150mph for these last 06' cars.
