Can anyone tell me the difference?

Bit of a noob question here.

Can someone tell me the difference between the -is , M models, and M sport package. I know that the M is obviously the top of the line but i'm a bit of mixed up because i'm just getting into bimmers.

Simply put,

is - Factory sport package for the 335/Z4, that involves performance upgrades and minor aero changes over regular, only a couple is models exist
M-sport - aggressive body kit, wheels and suspension (sometimes) upgrades, all appearance that can be had on wider variety of models
M - completely different suspension geometry, brakes, motor, appearance, etc
