MOst serious car guys that bought GT2RS's are less concerned with any depreciation...they will enjoy their cars and hang on to them for a long time. I suspect there will be some depreciation but not as dramatic as the standard 997.1 GT2 or 996 GT2.
The fact that they limited the number to 500 is good...they also priced it at the max amount, as evidenced by not a lot of action over msrp.
Stunning performer with factory 600+hp = Long term winner methinks.
Can I bum a ride from someone ?

Limited, numbered, edition/Unique engineering/Incredible performance I think will put and keep a floor under prices for much longer than GT2. Having experienced the car the only people selling will be flippers and those experiencing financial difficulties.
I would sell my Spyder and GT3RS if it were necessary to keep this one.
You might be right Cole, but I think values stay well above $200k.

This has been mentioned time and time again, but 99% of all cars are depreciating assets unfortunately. I am not letting mine go and frankly I wouldn't care if it were worth 10k next week.
Concerning the MP4-12C, it is apples to oranges.
Not everything is about the figures the car puts down on paper. The GT2RS is really raw, you hear all the noises and variation in surfaces of the road. The flywheel actually makes a tiny bit of noise too. The 12C will most likely be far more refined and suffer the same problem as most of the modern Ferrari's and Lamborghini's - too many electronic aids. That too is impressive in it's own right. However, I do still enjoy my 6 speed gearbox from time to time.
I'm stating the obvious, but the "wow" factor behind the wheel of each individual car can't be measured and is different for every person. For example, when I drove the GT3RS. I found the GT3RS made up for it's lack in power compared to the GT2RS with the pure sound it makes. It's just so much more different and alive from that aspect IMO. Both are as exhilarating to drive.

Did we scare mr 250,000 RPM off or did all the logic stirring about this thread make his pistons seize?

Guys, no need to go crazy over my comment - the fact is that at a price point of 250k you are spending the same money and getting A LOT LESS car for it. I don't think I need to go into all the differences and engineering prowess of the 12c compared to a warmed over design from the late 80's to prove that.
On top of this, the 12c will eat the 2RS at the track, that much is clear from the raw numbers. And that was supposed to be the 2RS's forte with all the noise they made about their 'ring time.
AND it makes a great engine sound, while the 2RS has the noise of a vacuum cleaner. AND it rides like a mercedes when used around town.
So rationalize it however you want, fact is McLaren just OWNED Porsche at the 250k price point and the timing of the deliveries of the 2RS was just unfortunate for those that couldn't get to see those reviews before paying for their cars. Car is a dinosaur on the first day it is released ..
Flame on.

Vote 3. Reminds me of the GTR posts, where they try to get people upset and then lurk to make quick replies. I see you down there 10rpm.
