It will also add a substantial lead time on the delivery of your car, should paint to sample be approved.
I'd be ok with a substantial lead time if I was able to get the color I wanted from the factory. It almost seems at times that we, the owners & enthusiasts, want it to be a more "special" car than even Porsche does. They've got a serious winner here, and I hope they continue to acknowledge how special this ultimate of 911s can be - especially if we can option it out the way we want it.

As a general rule of thumb, a paint to sample car will not sell for a penny more than any other car.

Surely if you find someone who is in love with a certain color like a Mexico Blue, that color GT2RS may garner a bit more in a private sale - "considerably more" is a stretch. I'd also reason there's a small chance of this happening.

That's been my experience, and we certainly sold more than one paint to sample 911 while I was working in the business.

I wonder why Porsche doesn't come out with an "exclusive" bad-ass paint color for their halo models. Something kinda special and unique like Mercedes did with their Alumibeam (sp?) - just thinking out loud. It doesn't have to be "bling" just difficult to copy per se.

My order was entered into the system today. Here is what I was told regarding a few questions I had.

1) Paint to sample. No for US cars. They will all be built at the same time in Nov/Dec. They will all be delivered at the same time. Supposedly not enough time for PtS Approvals,

2) Lift system - NO

3) CF Rear Wing - NO

4) Euro Delivery - NO

5) Color Matched Hood and/or Side Scoops - NO

6) Thick Steering Wheel in Black Alcantara with Black Spokes - NO

7) Why is White and Black a $3100 premium - No Idea

8) Confirmed Alcantara Leather and Leather is a $0 option. It's a good deal.

9) Black Roof Headliner instead of Red - NO

10) Marketing Material said seat belt reinforcement plates have been removed to save weight. Does that mean the Bolt in Roll Bars no longer Bolt in? - No idea.

11) Is configuration guide available yet. No, but soon.

12) What Track is East Coast event - TBA

13) Is this all the special treatment I can get for my $260K - Yes.

To be blunt here, Ferrari is much more accommodating when you buy a car like this. They'll stitch, paint and change leather to almost any color you want.

Not true. A while back on these forums a member (can't remember who) was looking to buy an orange, much less exclusive Carrera GT, and there was a 200k premium he had to pay to get that color.

Also, to BB, it seems Porsche's principal to get your car EXACTLY how you want it doesn't apply as much to exclusive cars.

200,000 Really? And wouldn't that mean it is a much more exclusive Carrera GT rather than a 'much less exclusive Carrera GT'? That is stupid you could buy a black GT have it sprayed orange for way less than 200k.

Anyway Congrats on the allocation!

Rather shocked the front lift is not available? I use it ALL THE TIME on my GT3RS. The splitter on the 2RS will be destroyed in short order That is a moronic decision on behalf of Porsche...

Thanks for posting this ! Now I am thinking of canceling my 2RS slot and getting the 458 F car instead. Seems like the better deal...

Porsche is really screwing the pooch on this one.

My order is placed, but I don't have the specs in front of me. MSRP is $267k. I am getting Guards, black wheels, carbon fenders, and a few other options. I have asked Porsche for Paint to Sample. They said NO. I will ask again. I am thinking of ordering Mexico Blue and remove some red interior. Or all of it.

200k, really. He ended up not buying a CGT at all, but still. It is a lot of money to pay for a color. I guess he could of had it sprayed, but the paint wouldn't be original, from the factory, and it would possibly hurt the resale value, if a 400k car wasn't in it's original color.

Anyway, can't wait to see all of the GT2 RS's that come to the team!

That's disappointing. No paint to sample for the US either. They really did give you guys the short end of the stick.

I'm sure they left out the lift system to keep the weight down.

I've said it a million times before and I'll say it again. 260k!!! What a bargain. We're looking at 487k fully specc'd out in South Africa. 460k base price, but it's spec comes quite fully loaded as standard. Only 30k worth of options you can take.
