Best All-Season Daily Daily Driver Under $100k?

Yeah too bad I think the S7 will be above the $100k limit for this discussion.

I would pick a beat up honker, or some consumable boring car.
Regardless of disposable income, I do not want to be scraping ice and and snow off any nice car.
Any sporty car will be too low for anything but plowed roads. Your R8 may have AWD, you will be sitting on the bellypan in no time unless you avoid parking it anywhere but your garage, and wait for the roads to be clean.
Do you know how all the detailers got about microswirling and stuff? You will scratch the *uck out of that clearcoat every single time you remove snow. And if that wasn't enough, do you know how sleet is removed? You hit it. That's right. You hit it just enough to shatter, but not blow up your windows or bodywork. Once you're done, throw the broomstick inside ... water everywhere.
Again, something I don't want to do to an R8.
Let's not mention the crud and slush from the road, as well as the salt/gravel being thrown by snow clearing equipment.
Needless to say, you will be dragging that into the footwells every time you get in. Inevitably, you will also swipe along the car with your pants/jacket, scratch the body, and leave crusted up salt everywhere on the seat.
What am I getting at? **** the nicer cars in winter if you live in a real winter-y area.
Sure, you could do it. Any random commuter car on winter tires will do everything better, and you don't end up ruining anything in the process. Everyone wins.

all this awd or offroad talk sucks...
if you aren`t one of the few people living far away from civilization the car will experience urban driving conditions in 90% of the time anyway..
and if it really snows like here right now, take it like a man and drive your RWD car through the snow covered streets...mostly...
and concerning the space issue and thus the need for an SUV...
most SUVs don`t offer more space than a proper wagon like an Audi A6 Avant or an 5er Touring.
hell you can even tow your freakin boat in 5 Series Xdrive...seen it numerous times

I totally agree.
And to astonmartinone-77: We live in Europe and we know what snow is...
And a SUV as DD: no thanks man, I'm not a mom who's picking up her kids from school everyday.
The day I have kids I'd still wouldn't buy a SUV unless I would be planning on going offroad. I'd prefer something like the BMW 5 or MB CLS.

Munich and Belgium get snow like St. Louis gets snow, which is to say, not that much.
If you live where I live, you're at a serious disadvantage gimping around in a RWD or FWD 'car'. You're going to sit and wait for plows with frequency. Trust me, I've driven every type of vehicle here. Can you do it? Sure... Why deal with it?
I also own a 550ix M Sport.. great car for Chicago, Munich, Belgium or anywhere else that sees limited snowfall amounts, including Minneapolis if we don't experience any large storms.
If you frequent 'real' snow country (ie the U.P. of Michigan with > 25' of annual snowfall) like I do, you simply must have a 'truck'. There is no chance in hell you are getting around for the majority of the winter season in a RWD, FWD, and often in an AWD car. Snow tires or not. It's ground clearance.
SUV's also tow more, offer 3rd row seating and/or large dimensional cargo capability.
Besides showing how large our penises are (WTF?), there really are practical reasons to own something other than 'a car'.
BTW, nobody with female friends drives a wagon in the U.S.A.
