I think they are cool.

Defender cool? No but cool in my book.

And this whole RR is an awesome 4x4 nonsense is that, nonsense. 99.999999999999% of them won't see anything besides the occasional snow storm and the half yearly sale at the mall.

Chick car? No more than a BMW M3.

Actually I'd think it would be about as much of a chick car as any Merc. SLK, which means it is definitely a chick car, even though I have never seen one driving an Evoque...

Yes. Very nice truck. It was better with the normally aspirated engine.

It's not bad, the thrills wear off quickly and it settles into a competent daily driver role...but if you want a DD with a few more jollies you'll have to look elsewhere.

all this awd or offroad talk sucks...

if you aren`t one of the few people living far away from civilization the car will experience urban driving conditions in 90% of the time anyway..
and if it really snows like here right now, take it like a man and drive your RWD car through the snow covered streets...mostly only a thin layer anyway since salt and snow plugs do their job in most cases
I mean even the thousands of soccer mums in little Fiat Pandas with FWD don`t complain...
Maybe some of those guys complaining too much simply didn`t think about proper winter tires yet?

and concerning the space issue and thus the need for an SUV...
most SUVs don`t offer more space than a proper wagon like an Audi A6 Avant or an 5er Touring.
you can even fold down the rear seats and get more space
so as a city guy an SUV is just a personality thing and maybe the advantage of sitting higher and having a greater curb weight,..and showing that you have a bigger penis than the guy a feet below when being - pretty much daily - stuck in a traffic jam

hell you can even tow your freakin boat in 5 Series Xdrive...seen it numerous times

oh and SoCal...why being so modest?
C4S is nice,but why no 997.1TT?

I don't know where you live, but in Chicago, it snows much more than a little sheet, you NEED awd, unless you are an idiot or you have more than one car. And I know there are places that get worse snow than Chicago. Even w/ a good rear diff. There is no way to tackle 1ft tall snow in a rwd car, I drove a Quattro Q7 in a late snowstorm we had a few days ago, there were like 5-6 inches of snow and it could barely handle it going 10-20 mph under the speed limit. And this is Quattro we are talking about.
