Just saw this thread. I have owned 7 Suburbans / Tahoes in a row (4 kids, 2 dogs). This time tblackj talked me into trying a Toyota Land Cruiser.
The Land Cruiser is the best car I have ever owned. Solid as a rock, third row seats that flip out of the way easily, great ride, great interior, everything works perfectly, and nearly 400hp. I can't recommend this car highly enough.
Lexus makes a slightly fancier version of the same car, but it looks like a chick car . . .

Yukons are nicely sized for big families.
We have a Land Cruiser and it's great for us, but a little small for a family the needs three rows, because there is no room in the back with all 3 rows in use.
Great car though, but I would suggest the Yukon XL if I had to get one.
I just dont like all the wood and all in the Cadies.
For my daily I'm in the Cayenne GTS which is very small for 5 adults... glad it's jsut me when I drive that, and my wife.

I got a chance to drive a new land cruiser and man that thing was awesome! It flies for its size (something like 6.5 0-60), has a great interior and solid build quality. Also, it might not matter to you but the off road capability is great.

+1 on the Yukon...I'd get the hybrid, 6.0 v8 + electric boost must be nice, and 22mpg aint' bad for something that size either! The other cool thing about hybrids is that you can use them as generators.
