SUV help

i know on here we talk about sports cars 99.998% of the time. however, the time has come for me and my family to purchase a new SUV. we've owned a expedition that has brought us no problems and the lease is coming to a close. so now i wanted to see what you guys like out there that is in the expedition size and class. cadillac, infiniti, nissan, chevy, etc. you can say your likes or dislikes with what you own or have heard about. i appreciate the help

What are you going to do with it? If you ask me, the perfect SUV is a Land Rover 88 Lightweight or a Pinzgauer.

If it's a street barge, I don't think you can wrong with the GM Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade/Yukon (how many names can a same car have?). Nissan Armada/QX56 is said to be of rather poor build quality, and Toyota didn't nail their new V8 engines properly. This being said I rode in the supercharged Tundra (OEM - 500hp), it was ridiculous. Haven't heard anything about the new Expedition/Navigators.
A Range Rover is nicest of all, IMO.

Does it have to be expedition size? Doesn't really leave a lot of options, new Escalade hybrid looks nice but I really don't know much about the hybrid models. The regular trucks are great for what they are, a floating 6,000 lb couch.

yea expedition size is better for my family. RR, cayenne, X5 types would all be to small. i would love to get a GTS or RR supercharged if it was just me but its not, so the bigger the better

I second Zorro.

We have a Tahoe, and we will always have a Tahoe. Love it. Comfortable, practical, and a tank.

I really like the Escalades, finally some quality to them and they look great. As to the hybrid model, I just don't get it: less power, more complications, and still so-so mileage overall.

If you don't want to spend crazy money for a truck, I'd look at the Tahoe which they did well this time, or even better, the Denali.

JBrown is an unknown quantity at this point
I would look at the Escalade or just a GM SUV period. As with Chokeu2, I have a GM SUV, always have had a GM SUV, and always will have a GM SUV

The Tahoe LTZ, Escalade, and Denali have the 6.2 V8 so you;ve got pretty decent power along with it

It's too bad the full size RR isn't big enough for you, I think it's the pinnacle of luxury for an SUV. How about the Merc G500 or G55 or Merc GL class? If I had more than 2 kids I would go with the Escalade ESV. God forbid you can't fit in one of those you'll have to go minivan shopping.

Jenks:

Just saw this thread. I have owned 7 Suburbans / Tahoes in a row (4 kids, 2 dogs). This time tblackj talked me into trying a Toyota Land Cruiser.

The Land Cruiser is the best car I have ever owned. Solid as a rock, third row seats that flip out of the way easily, great ride, great interior, everything works perfectly, and nearly 400hp. I can't recommend this car highly enough.

Lexus makes a slightly fancier version of the same car, but it looks like a chick car . . .
