people with macs....a question

My thinkpad isn't really built for heavy duty photo editing (unless I hook up with big screen, but it just died on me ) so I've been using the jumbo iMacs we have at our disposal here to process images.

Here is my gripe with it all:

All the documents float on the desktop. In windows, when word or photoshop is open, If I maximize the program I can block everything from my field of vision that is not the program. Aka just photoshop and 2 images inside it for example.

The same scenario in OSX has the two images just floating on my desktop. With my picture and icons showing through and easy to click on accident etc.

edit: with that said they perform great.

Is this something you get used to and then tell people osX is better for multitasking? Because Ive found that I like the taskbar a bit better than the document floating + dock combo for management.

expose is great for switching, agreed

When I am using a window though.... just regular usage...I feel distracted by all the other floating documents behind me... maybe its add

do you minimize everything you dont need at all times?
....then you cant use expose because thats only for the floating docs

ugh

help?

now I get what your saying....

I use a 12" powerbook, so I never have anything but maximized and dont find it annoying anyway. sorry I can't help out more.
