Syncing information with 3 macs, iphone etc.

I am finally ready to start using the iPhone for contacts from various databases..Is it only compatible with "Address Book"?

I know these are rookie questions..but I entered some data directly on the phone...I also entered data into Address book on my laptop.

When I opened iTunes, it synced with iPhone..

But no data was shared..

Big duh in advance..

I sync it with "address book" since my outlook contacts has a zillion contacts from the University that I don't really need. It wirelessly syncs through "MobileMe."

I just went to:

1. Settings
2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Add Account
4. Mobileme

It now syncs all my contacts and calendar appointments. I have my work iMac set to sync my Entourage appointments from my work Exchange server. I choose to sync my contacts and appointments from my personal "address book" and "iCal" rather than my Exchange server.

It works wirelessly and flawlessly thus far.

You can use MobleMe or the iSync utility. Either will get the job done.

I guess I don't understand exactly how this works..Let's say I have 10 contacts manually entered in my iPhone...and 10 contact manually entered in Address Book.

So far I have been able to sync the address book with Mobile Me..But I am not yet able to get the contacts from the iphone to mobile me..

THe idea is for all the contacts to be merged together and synced up, correct?

It seems that the 10 contacts entered on the iPhone have been replace with the ones I entered into address book on my iBook...I'm not gettin this..

I thought somehow they would be merged and grouped together centrally..
