I can't seem to find much good to say.
Drives exactly like the old ones, and the quirks have been amplified. Whereas before you would lean into a rail or bump opponents ... now rails and opponents are like magnets that you can't seem to get out of once you've nudged them.
Plus, I just bought the Lambo SV and it sounds like shit. Not a happy camper.

Nope, they sound digital, at least IMO. They're still fun, but the cockpit engine sounds are pretty poor (apparently every car sounds like a sewing machine inside).
I have yet to drive an old muscle car, so hopefully those improved. Back in GT4 the muscle cars just sounded like they had huge radiator fans and the world's quietest exhaust - definitely no V8 rumble.
My other gripe about sound is the crash noise. It sound like someone recorded someone punching a Rubbermaid container. That might be realistic if you bumped into a Saturn, but metal on metal doesn't sound like that last time I checked.
Anyway, I should probably stop complaining and just go have fun driving.
It's a bit of a disappointment after 5 years, but it's still a fun game.

Not at all.
The Murcielago SV, arguably the best sounding car in the world in real life, sounds like something between a sewing machine and a vacuum.
The SLS certainly doesn't sound like a rumbly V8.
This being said they must still be doing something right because I've been playing till 2am for the 2 days I've had it.

Aww man,
I had really high hopes. I read somewhere that they had 7 different mics on every car to record the engine/exhaust sounds to make them as realistic as possible. Seems like they failed.....
Nonetheless I'm gonna pick up the game after work.
Thanks for the response guys !

Maybe the engine sound depends on how nice of a stereo you have? I'm using the sound coming out of my TV so maybe that's why it sounds like crap.
Also, I unlocked the Top Gear track after completing both of the beginner karting challenges.

Yeah I wonder about that as well, although a quick youtub-ing of GT5 gameplay shows the lp560 sounds like shit as well.

I have to say the Macca F1 sounds OUTRAGEOUS! Even my wife was like WTF was that after I started it (when you buy or move into a new/different car, there's a start-up noise). Then on track it was awesome. I couldn't stop laughing at the noise, how fast it was, etc. The cockpit view is EPIC - esp. from a standing start.
Just got done working out - I'll be back into it shortly, to be interrupted by that whole "Thanksgiving" thing...
