Why doesn't the Enzo excite?

When the Enzo was released, it came out at the same time as the Carrera GT, SLR McLaren and the Veyron. Sure, the Enzo was faster than the CGT and the SLR, but a lot of the technology that set it apart from those cars was already available in the lesser Ferrari models. Then the price got driven up to the level of the Veyron, but you can't really compare the two based on price since the Bugatti would wipe the floors with the Enzo in just about any scenario. I think the real problem with the Enzo's "wow factor" being so low compared to other Ferrari supercars is that it was released at the wrong time. It was a little too late to the game to really stand out for what it is/was. I think Ferrari's timing with the F50 also has something to do with its perceived popularity since it came out after the Jag XJ220 and McLaren F1. Pretty much the same situation as the Enzo.
On that note, the F40 was the hottest car in the world when it was announced. It was just so much crazier than anything else on the road. So much rawer, more extreme, and it required more respect than any other new car available at the time, not to mention being faster than just about anything else on 4 wheels at the time.

In terms of performance we can really begin to split hairs when comparing the Enzo to other cars. But its massive price makes it a rare sight.
All of this comes down to personal taste and preference. I love all of the cars mentioned. But the Enzo is special to me.
For me, Ferrari is the bar that all others try to reach. Currently, the Enzo is the best Ferrari on the street IMHO.

the enzo commands a price that is 3 times that of the F40, no? that should say something there. (there is a super nice 40 for sale at ft laud ferrari)
the 40 was on my wall, just as the coun, but doesnt mean i have to cheer it on as if i really knew what it was back then. all i knew is that i like cars and it was for sale at the bookshow and i had 1.95 to buy it!
btw, i saw earlier today that the enzo has gained more votes in the pole.
