Dana, sometimes the official numbers don't have much credibility. It is widely known that Ferrari built more than 349 Enzos, and there is a SoCal Enzo owner who is personal friends with Luca Di Motezemolo who I've spoken to that has confirmed this.
The official number, from Porsche, of total Carrera GTs is 1250. We all know that isn't true.
You seem to be captivated by the fact that 349 is the "official" number from Ferrari and if Ferrari said so, it must be true. But, it's in their interest to keep the official word at whatever they quoted all those people who were originally picked to buy the car, and just build more to meet demand.
You can quote "official" numbers until you're blue in the face, it isn't going to make it any more true or factual.
