if they can keep the weight down to anywhere near 2,200 lbs the performance will be sensational. ferrari is taking a great direction with this.

I'd be surprised if anyone could build a supercar that weighed less than 2800 lbs anymore. Does anything think that Ferrari could actually build something lighter and more focused than the McLaren F1???

Yes, but it might not be road legal. I think they could still do that and people would still buy it and just use it on the road anyway. Does the average cop in Minnesota know that the FXX isn't road legal or even any different from an Enzo without the two side by side? Doubtful.

That, or they could make an über-Elise.

Edit: Didn't mean to single out Minnesota or anything; just an example.

Understood. No, I don't think the average cop would really care, but they'd know something wasn't quite right if they saw an FXX or say, a Radical driving down the road.

If there is any company out there with the resources to start a new age of supercars, it'd be Ferrari. They have the know-how and the resources necessary to make it happen, I'd just like to see them put in on the streets.

...And the influence. If I were a supercar maker (Lambo, Pagani, McLaren; all the usual suspects) I would be very hesitant to march in a different direction than Ferrari.

Once Ferrari or Porsche lean in a new direction, the others will fall in line. Obviously KERS hasn't been worth sh!t this year in F1, but it would be great to see this on a production supercar a few years down the line.

I'm afraid KERS may become a punchline. Its F1 value is limited, as we have seen this year, and I doubt anyone who wasn't in F1 would take the time and trouble to develop and market something like that. And it looks increasingly like Ferrari will not be in F1 next year...
