Cayenne Turbo vs X5/6 M

since when does an SUV have to tow? Or use the 3rd row (mine will rarely be used cause the back is full of shit most of the time)
Hell, my mom drives an SUV, no one ever in the back seat, it's almost always folded down, but that thing gets packed on a daily basis.
You seem to have avoided the question, what is the "intended" purpose of an SUV? What's your response to guys that buy GT3's who never track them?

Oh that's right, almost ALL the marketing is around THOSE scenarios.
You don't see commericals about SUV traversing accross horrible lines at McDonalds or Starbucks...
It's intended use-meaning the Automakers know very well SUV's are cash cows b/c everyone see's their commerical and says "OMGZ!! I soooo want that"
when all they do is use it to JUST go to Starbucks.

modern SUVs are prestige oriented big cars that give you space, elevated throne(seat) and safety (mass,German engineering)
with AMG,//M etc you get a lot of horses and sound for fun as well
no mud driving, boat hauling, unpaved snowy trail conquering stuff done with them for 99% of the buyers

Are you smoking crack? LOL you have just proven my point. Intended use. IMPLIED USE- Or don't the automakers portray their beloved SUV going up and down rough terrain, thru rivers, deep snow in horrible snow storms all the while you're enjoying your starbucks.

Only SUVS I really see actively marketed that way are Jeeps. Can't think when I saw an ad for an escalade, navigator, etc where the car was being driven off road. I'm not sure that is really what the "intent" is for SUV these days. It's just something most of them are capable of doing.
Cars/Trucks are intended for whatever the owner wants to do with them. I'm still unsure what your gripe is about someone driving a 750li vs someone driving a cayenne turbo if all they use it is for hauling the family around or driving to work everyday.
If every GT3 owner doesn't take his car to the track do you get on him as well?
Again, I fail to see your hatred for an SUV, it's todays modern day station wagon of the 70's and 80's. TOdays station wagons are incredibly small. It's obvious you don't have a family that travels. Try to stuff a weekends worth of stuff for two toddlers, and yourself into something other then an SUV and let me know how it goes. I'm a huge station wagon fan, love them...been looking at audi and E-series wagons lately; but reality is when the family needs to go on vacation, we are going to need to take our navigator.

If you don't want to admit what the SUV represents, that's another thead. But you'd be in denial if you thought people didn't buy them for the 'bigger is better' mentality. And sadly b/c there's so many of the horrid things on the road, it's difficult for cars drivers to see around them.
I'll say it again- BECAUSE I SEE WHO BUYS THEM- 80% MINIMUM of the buyers do NOT need an SUV. Nothing in their life would justify the need for one. You're citing station wagons like they all of the sudden just got small. No, they're almost extinct- that's the issue. Small? Really? You need more than a A6 Avante? Or MB E Wagon?
No, people just bring ALL their shit with them and their ONE kid to the beach; and that's their justification for it.
we could do this all day long. But sadly you have millions of people who grew up JUST fine with sedans or station wagons. Seems to me if all those people did fine, so could 80% of the SUV buyers.
ps. before you respond just THINK for one moment and stop assuming people buy SUV's for the same reasons YOU do. You're one person. I've sold a LOT of cars; I see peoples justifications for them.
like it or not, I know SUV's are here to stay. But they're annoying to those of us who like driving cars.
