I just bought my wife the new Escort IQ which is a combination radar detector and NAV system. It is also touchscreen.
Her Mini does not have factory NAV so I figured this was a nice product for her!

Also, I live in Minnesota. I legally cannot run any device that interferes with laser. So the shifters that come with the 9500ci are shown as receivers/shifters, does that mean I will not have the option to have any laser detection at all? Or is it possible to just disable the shift portion of that part of the package?

You can set the 9500ci shifters into receive mode which basically means they warn you when they pick up lidar traces but they don't jam the lidar.

My 9500ci shifters operate in receive mode because I prefer my more powerful Laser Interceptors to do the jamming.

BTW in my experience the Escort laser shifters are pretty weak and should not be counted on.

This may be on the cards. Regarding red display 9500ci, I heard they may be launching the Bel STIR-Plus in the US which is basically 9500CI without the shifters and with a red display. Good product since the 9500 shifters are useless.

I'm keen to see what they do once the V1 patent expires.
