New Radar Comparison?

Has anyone tried the New K40 360RL/2? I have it in my GT but never used a 9500ci so dont know what to compare it to... in NYC I dont get much of a chance to really test the waters but now am adding a system to the Turbo and am deciding on another k40 or try something different?

Just hate the thought of mounting that 9500 display anywhere...

And for anyone wondering I have a V1 in the 430 - I didnt have the heart to cut so much as a mm hole anywhere in the car!

I had a K40 about 6 years ago and didn't like near as much as my Passport 9500ci. I actually have a 9500ix in one car and the 9500ci in another. In the Ferrari, you cannot see any trace of the radar detector and would have to look hard for the laser diffusers. Because everything is hidden, I don't see the readout in the Ferrari, I just have to listen to what the audible alert says. It's sometimes difficult to hear the announcement of K or KA Band but I too cannot stand to have things clutter my dash or be visible in anyway. Law enforcement frowns upon these so I always feel it's best to keep then hidden.

I think the best setup is the following:
Bel STI-R Plus integrated Radar detector (a 9500ci without laser shifters but with band segmentation which enables it to outperform a V1)
Laser Interceptor Quad - the only impenetrable laser jammer on the market.

I don't think K40 has any where near the resources of Escort in this market, and the fact that they have a policy of suing any forum where members post reviews of their products suggests they lack confidence in their own products.

I just purchased the K40 radar detector there new RL360 and I liked it so much I am thinking about getting there RL200 which is there front only radar for my wifes car, I know it is front only radar but the cool thing about that system is I can always add the rear radar reciever down the line. I would atleast check out all of my option before getting any radar. The thing that sold me on K40's new RL360 is you do not have to worry about the installer mounting a display or control panel somewhere inside your expensive car plus it is totally customizable.

Thats all I got love this sight I learn a lot here thanks

I assumed you have a V1 in your 430 because it is by far the best radar detector in the world, hands down, bar none. I just can't figure out why that's not what you run in every car.

that is definately your opinion, which you are intitled. But that has not been my experience. In my opinion the V1 is outdated and hasnt changed is quite sometime and can in no way be compared to a hardwired remote radar like the K40 radar detector or the Escort 9500ci radars like that. Can the V1 been intregrated into the vehicle ... yes but still does not compare. But I am glad you have had a good experience with it.

I would LOVE to have an integrated V1. Unfortunately, I have not seen an integrated detector that sits as high as possible up on the windshield for best reception, without firing through the tint strip that the rear view mirror sits behind.

And obviously not just my opinion, as every truly independent test I have EVER seen, the Car & Driver test being the most thorough and well known, including the most recent one, has ALWAYS chosen the V1 as the best detector.

I love gadgets, custom installs, electronics, etc. And I've owned every detector out there, and still buy new ones when they come out sometimes. But I care even more more about my license.

No one else has the arrows. And I can't imagine consistently driving at high rates of speed without them. And of course the V1 is updated all of the time. Just because there isn't a shiny new box design, doesn't mean the electronics are anything less than leading edge.

"Definitely" my opinion . . .

This, independently verified across dozens of cars.

My favorite story comes from a car I set up for a friend doing Bullrun-- he called me while doing [fast] mph with a question about something, and in the background you could hear the V1 go off a solid 20 seconds before the 9500 lit up. At [fast] mph, 20 seconds is a lot.

I found this video aon K40's Youtube Channel. I also viewed several other videos on the new K40 radar detector the RL360 and there portable RL100, to me they prove to give plenty of range and I love that they have the rear reciever you can see how important it is in this video. Regardless, I am happy with the K40 and you are happy with the V1, dont get me wrong I am not shorting the V1 anything, I simply feel the K40 has more to offer.
