Wow. F that, I can deal with car malfunctions, but my general ignorance regarding planes makes this story 10x as freaky.

Probably not. The more complex the aircraft, the more things that can make with the weird, though failures of that nature in a bizjet are quite rare.

Certainly not something to put anyone off flying. Stuff breaks, but that's why there's procedures in place to deal with just about anything that does.

This is proof that the best safety measure on any aircraft is a well trained crew. Yearly recurrent simulator training is an excellent way of ensuring that when it gets thick, the crew will handle the situation without breaking a sweat. Well done! Looks like you have a professional crew on your hands, treat them well!
