Having some issues getting some parts. The shocks that came on the car are no longer made and have been substituted by a new part. However the parts have different specs so all 4 corners need to be changed, as do the springs. The insurance has a policy that they don't replace anything that wasn't specifically damaged in the accident. I hate all this wasted time when theres already such a huge bottleneck waiting for the parts without having to fight over being able to order them.

Going to order the shocks, springs, control arms, and some other bits on my own dime (max out the credit card nicely). This way I can get them at dealer price and the insurance SHOULD pay me back list, which will offset my loss on the additional shocks and springs.

I told them to send the car off to the paint shop in the interest of saving time. They were holding it until all the work was done because they were afraid of damaging the new paint on the alignment machine. We'll just have to be extra careful.

Will try to stop by the paint shop tomorrow and maybe get some cool pics.

Thanks man.

The car's in the paintshop. Went to visit it today but they hadn't started work yet. No one was there so I just walked around, found some of the parts lying around.

Wow man you have way more patience than I would have ever had. Hat's off!

Funny you mentioned "I always do my own work"... same deal here. Every time I've had something done, they manage to *uck it up. Not as bad as your whole ordeal though.

Can't wait to see you on the road!!

Went to visit the paintshop again today. Unfortunately nothing's started yet but they will begin disassembly this week and should be painting by mid-week next week. I was told the paint work itself should take about a week. Met the painter who'll be doing the work, nice guy named Alain. From what I gathered he's a contractor they bring in for higher end cars like the R8, Ferraris, porsches, etc.

He made a point of showing me the fender. it is INCREDIBLY light. I don't know how such a big piece of metal with some reinforcement in the back can weigh so little. My phone probably weights 4-5 times more. Really amazing.

Sat in the car for a few minutes, was nice

Why didn't you go for the superleggera bumper to revive the car up a little?

You mean the 560 Bumper?

Thought about it, in the end decided to stay stock. I'm still not 100% sold on the new front-end. Sometimes it looks great, other times I'm no so sure.
