Gallardo repair thread

Some people asked me to post repair pics of my car so here it is.

Quick recap: about 3 months ago I brought my car (Picture 1) in for an alignment. After waiting in the showroom for about 90 minutes some people asked me to come with them and showed me the scene in pic #2.

Damage was...

Front Left: control arms, spindle, sterring, rim, hub, brake, caliper, shock

Right rear: rim, spindle, hub, shock, spring, driveshaft(axle split)

Body: fender, front bumper, rear bumper (paint-only), rear diffuser, rocker panels, door (paint-only), entire undertray, 2 wheel well assemblies.

Misc: airbag, seatbelt, gouged frame, all 4 tires blown, bent rims all around, pinched clutch line, inside door handle, etc.

Pics #3-6 show some of the damage.

The car is now at an Audi dealership (Who've been great) and after waiting for parts from the Montreal Lambo dealer for 3 months the repairs finally started Friday. A few things are still missing and they got the wrong shocks but the guys at Audi started anyway.

Pic #7 & 8 shows the rebuilt right rear (minus the new shock/spring) with new hub, bearing, control arm tie, axle, and spindle.

#9 shows some old parts and #10 the gouged front crossmember that will be fixed by an aluminium center (no structural loss).

Will post more as things progress.

i spoke briefly with the mechanic who crashed your car that same day, i'm glad it got resolved for you

i also went through the exact same situation in 2004 when a certain Acura dealership smashed my brand new RSX-S while it was in for service. Its not a fun experience!

He definitely looked a bit shaken up when I saw him. Sadly the crash itself was the least disappointing/frustrating part of the whole ordeal. I can't comment publicly though. I was really pissed a few weeks ago when I saw someone from the same dealer drive an S6 flat out along the exact same spot and even start racing me in my M3.

Stupid question Gvan- why not take the deminished value check and trade the car in for a new one?

1. I love my car!
2. Apparently it's the only one ever made with a tan/black sportivo interior (I love my car!)
3. It was the Geneva and NAIA show car in 2004 and I know know 2 of the previous owners (I love my car!)
4. I won't let those bastards take my car away from me
5. I just did all services and put in a new clutch, all would be questionable on a "new" used car, plus I'd lose all the mods.
6. This was the first time someone other than me worked on it since I own it. I know every nut and bolt and foible on it.
7. I have a hard time finding another car colour/gearbox/option combination I like
8. I'd lose money as the settlement won't cover the difference.
9. I'd get hit with a 20% import tax when I move this year because I won't have owned the car more than a year.
10. I love my car!!!
