LP560-2 as MY2011
#16
From a balboni owner's perspective I don't care what they do because i love the car and its sooo nice to drive. I don't see a reason to get angry or pissed off because no matter what there will always be a faster gallardo in the future so as long as you love every aspect of your car that's all that matters. Well that's just me, dont know about the rest!

This is great news, I am so glad they are doing this. Kudos Lambo (and Audi)! I hope there are still six speed sticks coming out for this model.
I don't think this diminishes the Balboni Special Edition, in fact, to me, the whole concept of the 550-2 standard 2011 model is still a nod to Balboni as making a car dialed in as he prefers. The actual Balboni LE's are just icing on the cake paying tribute to him with a cool paint scheme. It is a shame it wasn't more successful, though - but with this economy, I'm sure there are a lot of people who would want one who don't want to (or can't) pull the trigger. Same probably goes for 560s too. It will be interesting to see how the 570 SL does. IMHO, the '08 SL was an awesome car, but a lot of those languished on lots too, undeservedly.
If I had a Balboni, I wouldn't be pissed about this new car, I'd be out driving the Balboni and loving it. There's a yellow one at the dealer near me, and starting it up was sublime, the car is rocking. I wish they had made more with six speed stick though, this one has E-Gear.
That said, I have never bought a car for either exclusivity or an investment or worried if the value drops. I buy 'em to drive.

There's a lot to be said for flappy paddles, especially on a daily driver. But for this car I would go with 6 speed. Heck, it may be the last of the 6 speeds for all we know. A 6 speed 550-2 spyder would be the perfect weekend car for me.
