not sure this argument was about success....but about which is the better car.
On top of it, the conversation was compared to a GT3....and now you are lumping in every porsche model made

No,I'm not always right; however I base my logic on actual facts- not bullshit rhetoric.
And if we want to be nit pick; your statement was One could argue that when competing in such a market where your price point is in the same range as much more widely known, accepted and thus also-proven automakers; if an automaker wants to be a boutiqe-type offering; than by all means- make the value proposition so compelling theres a waiting list. -sure you could poke holes in that as well- There isn't exactly a list for Porsche either; but I assure you Porsche has had more waiting lists for its products then Lotus has had for theirs. Given the same buyer, who is wanting to spend $50/60/70k on a "sports" car or "sporty" car- one will consider Porsche, BMW, Audi and even Mercedes Benz. Lotus, while unique looking little cars, and very very capable track machines (where they shine I must add, and I know this for fact) are still OUT of their leage when comparing to the others in terms of 'total offering'.
So, yes, when we're speaking about SALES as an indicator of success - both in units and in profit, I assure you both- not only has Porsche won that category-
So has Ford.
So when you use a word like "better" among the likes of the GT3 or other similar cars; one should also consider that if your product isn't selling, you should revisit it's value proposition to it's competitors. You'd need to make your product 'better'to be competitive.
You want to play ball amongst the big boys- don't offer kit cars. I'm sure this new Lotus is a fun car. But if Lotus hopes to really play on this field they for SURE better bring it to entirely different level.
I, for one- would LOVE to see Lotus do this- and be very successful.

so sales are what makes a car better?

If you're in the rare position to be able to afford one while still in your 20/30's - it's a small part of it to some of us. Anyone with reading comprehension skills can see that no statements of mine come close to your farce of an interpretation.

All of these lose to the Dacia Sandero /thread
.....
But on a serious note, great write-up, really looking forward to this car. An affordable street-legal track weapon.

I rather like to talk about how cars drive then how they sale
Ask my wife, she prefers any model of Porsche above the Lotus ones.
Personally I just like cars, the brand: doesn't interest me, I just like to feel what I am driving with.
I prefer a E AMG above the Panamera Turbo, a 997GTS above a 997turbo, an X5 above a Merc ML (however I have that last one). So what?
Guys try to feel a car, drive a car, talk about that passion about cars instead of just defending opinions based on sales figures or because you are a brand supporter.
Back to the Lotus test: just face it: it's a damn fantastic car with some sacrifies to do if you buy it.
I understand PERFECTLY more people prefer any Porsche above the Lotus, no problem with that.
Look at this car open minded, no need to be conservative. Or are we working for Porsche here
