I live in Bev Hills off of Beverly Drive.
If you're in the area let me know.
Anyone else seen this yet (just arrived at Beverly Hills Benz)? Such a sick color:

Performs better? As in How? limited edition? Limited to what? looks just like a sl500 with a body kit. Hardly limited. Nice car it is for sure, but talking about using a 4200lb car as a track car is laughable, the SLR will destroy it on track, straightline...anyway you slice it...

yes it's quite heavy I'll admit, but you act as if the SLR weren't, and don't tell me it isn't because I know quite a bit about the car. I was about to buy an SLR from someone I know who was selling his but had no space for it. And limited because there are only 175 units in the country. Trust me I went to the AMG Academy and drove the SL Black at it's official event back in November at Laguna Seca, and the AMG officials all agreed that this was the best handling Merc on a track. Take one for a drive and you'll see why. However, I'll give you the win on a straight line because the 0-60 on an SLR is quicker. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mclaren, but just not over this car.

And no that wasn't my car. Mine is already sitting in my garage. I took the pics and posted a new thread. Here's the link.

Straightline, the SLR will win in any race, not just 0-60mph.
Also, dont get me wrong, I like the SL65 BS. However inmo, for a slightly revamped SL65 it is in no way worth the premium inmo. Just buy an SL65 and Renntech it.

The SLR on 4 pt scales weighed just over 3700lbs. Its a good 500lbs lighter than the black series.

It's not about the speed though, it's about the value of the car. The Black represents AMG at its finest. And because it's limited, not everyone can have the opportunity and pleasure of driving one. You can't just walk into any benz dealership and ask them to test drive an SL Black, because chances are they won't have it or it's already sold. An SLR on the other hand is carried in almost every benz dealership. I see them driving around almost everyday and have a few friends that have one. I'm the only person I know of for now that has the SL. Now if it were an SLR 722, then that's a slightly different story. But if it were all about speed, then I could easily tune the SL to be faster than a normal SLR with some of the upgrade packages that are out there. My CLK Black for example is modified by RENNtech and is now faster than my F430 and Gallardo, and I didn't even get the full upgrade but I'm leaving it where it's at. The SL BS though has more power than the SLR to make up for it's weight difference. And I just found out that the newest SLR's are actually the same specs as the BS from 0-60, which are both 3.8 sec, coming straight from the benz site, so I guess no one wins. I agree that the SL Black is an overpriced SL, but keep in mind that the SLR is about 200k extra for nothing but a more unique looking car. But at the end of the day, it's all based on opinion and I still respect yours.

That is special. You talk about paying 200k more for an SLR, yet you miss the fact that they are asking 300k more than an Sl550 for the Black series!

As for the SLR and BS running the same to 60... thats hardly the case..
You mention tuning your BS to beat the SLR, thats great, however the SLR can be tuned as well...

I will put my money on the SL Black from 0 to 199 straight line.
A little time will tell in the handling department.
The SLR is not nor has it ever really been all that in my opinion and certainly not what it could have and should have been.
Anyone that says the SL Black is over priced and uses the SLR to validate their claim should be flogged.
IMHO
