Anyways, half of this post was about Apple's crappy customer service. Did I just have bad luck? Or is it always this bad.
I have never had a problem. If 1 out of every 1,000,000 customers gets bad service....someone has to be the 1. Not saying that is the case, just saying that a lot of people are happy and have never had a problem. Sucks it happened to you, but that doesn't mean their service is always like that.

I am sorry this happened to anyone since I know the feeling of loosing invaluable data. But I agree that you may have gotten someone that either made a mistake or simply didn't know the new system well enough. I have spoken to CS at Apple on numerous occasions and have always gotten great service. In fact I think it's so good that I always feel the person is sitting beside me when were are going through problem. I got through with my iMac and iPhone but I must say it was a little touch and go and I thought it might not end well since it took so long to get it all done. So I was pins and needles for a while.

How do you even get through? Do you have to have Applecare? I bought it at Best Buy and bought the extended warranty through them, and I don't really want to pay $39 for a consultation that may or may not help me.

Do you not live near an Apple store? Why not book a genius bar appointment. They're free.

If you've never done a backup though... well... you fvcked yourself.

Like I said a few times, I DID do backups, but they're not appearing in iTunes, which apparently has happened to others. I'm gonna head to the one at Metrotown on the weekend.

Oh, and I don't know if this helps at all but I didn't lose any of my photos, ebooks, music or videos. Just my apps (including ibooks).

Sounds like an end user problem. Haven't heard of anyone else having problems.

If you just lost your apps is it really that big of a deal? Just re-download them. They will still be synced to your Apple ID so it's not like you will have to repay for anything.

he is having issue retrieving the files, not apps. Read before u respond.

An appt w genius bar should solve your issues. Looks like your ipad may still have the file if your music and photos are still there. Bring your laptop.

That would be awesome -- the documents/files are all that matter, I don't mind redownloading everything else.
