On my iMac, the stupid thing wont go online and comes up with this error message.

"

( substitue /forums.index.php for any website ie: /mail/ for gMail. )

Also, iTunes can't connect to the iTunes store.

Yeah, done all that, rebooted etc. Firefox can still go online. So it just some stupid setting I accidentally changed or something.

I can't update the software via apple, software update either. So much be a system thing?

There's no "going online" with Safari. If you have a network connection, it works.

If you're getting a "not found" error, the browser is connecting to the remote host, and just isn't finding whatever it is you're looking for.

Almost smells like a DNS issue either with your machine or your ISP, but I can't say for sure without some more information.

I found " Web Proxy " had been checked in the network preferences, i unchecked it and now it works. No idea what a web proxy is or why i would have checked it.
