Spied : 2014 Porsche 911 Targa Testing at the Nürburgring

These pictures show that Porsche has started testing the upcoming 911 Targa at the Nürburgring.

Our photographer was enough lucky to get a glimpse of the car—and its cleverly hidden retractable center roof section! Don’t be fooled by the car’s cabrio-like look of the car. Closer examination makes clear that the rollover bar is there, and that the tiny rear side window is just a smart fake.

The 911 Targa should be revealed at a major motor show sometime early next year, and start selling shortly thereafter.

That looks like it's going to be nice. The one thing that I never really liked about the early targas 1966-1993 was that it ruined the roof line. This new one seems to keep the roof line with the awesomeness of a removable targa roof.

 

I have a question that I've always wanted to ask. Why is it that the Targa versions don't come with a RWD option? I just can't seem to find an answer to this.

 

Oh my - exactly what I have been waiting for. Just handed my Targa 2010 in for an M5 - this would be a perfect addition to the stable!

 

Probably just marketing, however, the widebody does enhance the looks of the Targa.

 

This seems like a fairly good rendering of what the 991 Targa would look like. Nearly accurate! It's just missing the reflector at the back.
