Exactly! You don't want manly leg muscles on your girly legs from the rowing of gears and braking required, then don't get a performance porsche and stick to your automatic. Insert 'Tab A' (me in my stick GT3) into 'Slot B' (Big Willow) at around 140MPH.

I'd go for a cayenne, you can fit a lot of shopping bags in those!

Serious, manual 997 or go for a cayenne to fit all your shoe boxes in.

Depends where you live and what the purpose is, if you live in a city and sit in traffic the PDK is stunning tranny and my PDK cab is one of the best cars I have ever owned.

Trust me unlike alot of the people here insisting you buy a 6MT , alot of them have there precious cars sitting in the garage as they daily drive some other car. I daily drove a long long long line of exotics and 6MT cars. I drove my R8 6MT for 14k miles daily, 2 GT3's (997.1 and .2), Stradale (not 6MT obviously) and a 997TT, so don't let the bullies convince you to get a 6 speed or your a chick cause it isn't so.

Come to think of it will very shortly be a thing of the past for all cars!

If you have traffic issues, get PDK. If not, learn to drive a stick. If you don't know what PDK is, go read some more and come back when you're ready.

Kckyle, please don't judge this forum by the pubescent behavior of a few of us who should have grown out of it by now.

To address your question, the best answer by far is to get a newer 997 with the PDK transmission. You can get one with proper paddles, and it will be as easy to drive as an automatic, and capture some fraction of the driving enjoyment of a manual, being faster than either of them.

thanks guys, i had no idea i can stir up such a frenzy with a such simple qustion

i do know how to drive a stick. learned it on my dad's jag quite some time ago. but i had a such horrible experience, i think i even stalled the thing twice while in traffic jam once on a highway.

i was looking at some pdk models, but i didnt like the weird button tiptronic thing you have to push down in order to shift. i did find some paddle shifters i found on on higher up models like the new turbo and gts. but these paddle shifters are no where to be found on the s and 4s models?
