They're obsession isn't of fuel economy, but efficiency. That's what it's been all about since 1948.

Is that a windshield wiper on the back? I hope they rip that off by September!

Means more power is being used to propel the car down the road. Less HP being zapped for ancillary stuff.

The whole fuel economy thing (i.e. more gears, electric power steering, etc.) is a derivative of the EU and US fleet fuel economy requirements. It has nothing to do with efficiency - Porsche is just doing it because it's a "free" 1-2 mpg improvement.

Please tell me what's so luxurious about this new 911 besides the implied notion that many on this forum are giving to the 991. So far the most luxurious feature we're aware of is PCM.

Calm down people, the sky isn't falling because the new 911 has a larger center console, nor because the fit, finish and quality of the whole car appears superior to the 997. The car hasn't even come out yet and many of you are acting like the 997 will be the last great 911. Then again, the reaction was similar with the 997's introduction.

I'm trying to find a polite way of saying this, but you HAVEN'T OWNED A CAR YET and you're telling US to calm down?!?!???? I've owned two 997s and a 987 - I think I know what I'm talking about. FYI, it may be before your time (likely), but when the 996 was coming, people reacted the same way. Note how 993s are more valuable than equivalent-model 996s, even when the 996 is several years newer. As they continue to soften and make my favorite sports car more like a Mercedes, I will continue to be annoyed by it. If I wanted a Mercedes, I'd buy an SL.
