The 1950s, I think.

Sorry, Dana, I just can't get behind that kind of thinking. You can pursue any passion you want in life, but your wife has one, and only one, career option?

But why is that suggestion even tolerable? I don't recall him asking if it made financial sense... Dana is a great guy, but WAY off base with his comments.

I just don't think it's fair to make a thread asking for advice/suggestions/people's 2 cent and then making a snide remark to someone who offers a legitimate, kind-hearted piece of advice.

Edit: I misread Dana's suggestion. I thought he suggested the OP save the money so that his wife and/or him could stay home with the kids; I don't think women are destined to be housewives. I also don't think Dana feels that way about women either.

Hey, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. You guys know that. The OP expressed his disagreement and I respect our difference of opinion.

My response was not really relevant to this thread anyway.

Let's just let it go.

Kinda surprised at the direction this thread went.

How are some of you guys editing your posts now that there is no edit button anymore?

Dana, your two prior posts are very tasteless. I think you owe him an apology. You are making assumptions about him with no evidence. What does buying a carrera have anything to do with his wife or failure in the home?

I have nothing to apologize for.

I expressed a genuine opinion and did not violate any forum rules.

The OP had his say on the matter and it was over and done with.

I have absolutely nothing to feel apologetic about.

Some people have very strong beliefs about raising children. For some, buying new things at the expense of spending time with your children is wrong.

For instance, why buy an $80k car when you could "spend" that $80k (more like sacrifice $80k in earnings) staying home with your kids instead of sending them to daycare.

Anyway, on topic: Probably better to stay with the Cayenne for the kids. It'll be much easier to get them in and out and if your wife's car has to go into the shop or whatever, you won't have to depend on the carrera as your sole mode of transportation.
