I only read the first few posts.
I curbed my HREs once and really did a job on them.
HRE took the affected wheels, re-coated them and sent them back - all for free.
They have been a joy to work with.

I've gone through several sets of HRE wheels on cars I've owned, never a problem with them. They may cost more, but totally worth it.

UPDATE: HRE MD Alex has been really going out his way to accommodate me on this issue. HRE are perfectly willing to re-finish my current wheels under warranty, or, do me a fantastic deal on a new set (with different finish) and trade in my old ones. So as I am having major headaches finding a way of removing wheels from my Porsche and then storage for a couple of weeks, I have decided to take Alex up on his very generous offer. Should take 2-3 weeks but I am now ordering a new set of 19" P40 finished in charcoal gloss with a brushed face. Pictures to follow 
HRE is loyal to our customers, feel free to email us pictures once the wheels are refinished.

Happy conclusion...
Car finally delivered back to me this week. Crappy pic below as still a bit ill this week and the car is filthy.
- Brand new 19" P40 in charcoal with brushed face
I will take more (better) pics after the car is cleaned at the weekend.
