So after several months of owning my 997TT, I have to say that I actually really like the car.. Ive learned to use the tip buttons when I wanna have fun, and the auto is great for city use... That being said, in Beverly Hills this car gets ZERO..and I mean ZERO respect... Anytime I go to a valet, like for example today when I parked off Rodeo by Via Rodeo they park it completely in the back.. The entire front line was open, with a mercedes or two upfront... and they park the Porsche in the back.. This happened the last I came with the Porsche too. Come in the Lambo, the Bentley etc, car goes straight up front... Last time i was there, they parked my car in back with a lone Jaguar upfront.. If you tell Valets to keep it front, they look at you with a puzzled look as if it to say "why" ..

In a way, this is a good thing, as I wanted to blend in, but good god, I expected it to get atleast some respect... NONE.. Actually kind of pisses me off..

Another example is one of my workers, very nice guy and he meant no disrespect. He sees I got a new car, and he asks if I mind him asking what does a car like that cost.. I replied as to what he thought it would cost.. He responded 40k?

I wonder if it will change once I mod it..

It does baffle me that people do not understand Porsche. Most of my friends find out that I really like them and the car that comes to their minds is a shitty boxster. They all respond, "Really, I thought you liked cooler cars than that."

Yet my friends will drool over an SL. I just don't get people haha

 

yes, its rather suprising to me.. I love the look of it, always have, and have always had respect for the cars.. Its amazing to me that the general public does not. Dime a dozen Benz's are higher regarded..

 

I'm being facetious in my post above. Lambo is one thing, but Porsches are bought for performance, at least that's why I love 'em. I wouldn't worry about it, but if you do then sell it. That's why I like my M5 for the same reason, most people don't know the difference.

most people don't know the difference between a regular C2 and a TT, its always been a stealth bomber. thats part of the appeal. you've got a bull so you're covered in the look-at-me department. porsches are for automotive connoisseurs.

 

As i answered on another board.. Its not about the hey look at me factor.. Its about respect for a car that deserves it...

I look at it this way, inmo, ive owned dozens of better cars, faster cars, more exotic cars..yet I still see the beauty of the Porsche and i respect it.. How can these fools not?
