do it... porsches are always there.. you need to try both. you can't be a serious porsche man without having at least tried the competition.

The only thing that worries me is the high maintenance cost with the F car.

Yeah I hear you on the costs...at least with a porsche you know it will always start up! When you have toy cars...it's no fun to constantly have your car in the shop...

Although they are still not "cheap" I don't think the cost of the front engine 12s is as much as the rear engine 8s. They don't have to remove the engine to do a freaking oil change and what not so it may not be as bad as you think. It is worth noting that I am not sure about the exact prices but it may be worth looking into...

the front engined cars are cheap to maintain, it's the mid engined ones that will bend you over.
