Hotsauce,
Thanks very much for that detailed response. I was just visiting my friend in Dallas about 2 months ago, great city. Very impressed with all the places you can drive your cars hard and enjoy them, compared to Southern CA.
I will follow your advice and try to keep the MSRP at 260k or below for the reasons you mentioned.
Ferrari is telling me that if I lease a used car from them now it will get me a new 458 at least 6months sooner. So considering getting either a scud, california, or 599 (since they are all about the same price) at the time I order my 458. Then I would trade in that car when my 458 arrives. Considering I have a GT2, I am not sure what I want. The scud appeals to me the most, but I also love the idea of the other two for different reasons.
Will see.

Ah - so I see your wife might have some issues with it...yes - there are many beautiful girls in SoCal..maybe thats the reason..

I fully agree- the GT2 is pure understatement...most people dont know what it is - the only thing that looks a bit weird for some people is the wing. But that actually somehow attracts attention too..little story here - me a friend once drove by a nightclub to look for partking. He has a 997 - plain normal - completely unnoticed - the GT3 was however noticed..afterwards even some girls started asking questions about the car..and my GT3 is basalt..his 997 was white..so..

what about getting a 2nd hand 458?..instead of a new one..? I wouldnt buy a new one..Ferraris loose quite quickly value today too-.--the 458 is however still the best one in this regard I think.

Let us know what you will do..
Another big difference is that the GT2 feels much smaller when you are sitting in the driver seat compared to the 458, the front tires seem to bite harder in the fast turns also. I noticed the 458 had more understeer then the scud or GT2, or maybe I was just entering the corner at higher speeds.

The wife only has an issue with the money and the fact that I already have a 2 seater sports car, and we have 2 little boys. So she would rather me spend that money on a car that all of us can be in. If it was up to me I would do both.
She knows she has nothing to worry about with all the other women around here. I'm not stupid and the fact that I find her stunning helps prevent any temptations.

Actually the 2nd hand 458 are selling for MSRP or more with around 5k miles on them. A base 458 is only 230k, so with about 30k of CF parts and wheels, I can have a brand new one for less then most of the used ones. Also they come with 7 year maintenance now.
If things go as planned can make a move late fall or winter time.

Hi ZZZ,

again thanks for the info..really useful..interestingly I have heard the same from other people - the 458 seems to be quit nervous (OK - its a Ferrari and not a Bentley..I would like that too)..but Im just suprised. the 458 has wider track and longer wheelbase..on the other hand the GT2 is a damm good car.
I wasnt aware of the pricing issue - then its better to buy new one...and with 7 year maintenance (to be honest - this is a really good thing from Ferrari)..your better off.

As regards to your wife..hey - I was using some irony- usually GT2 drivers cant be that stupid because otherwise they will end up smashing their car anyway..

all the best,

Decisions Decisions...

I haven't driven a 599, but if i had to chose a car to drive around in it would be the California. I actually like driving it more than the 458.. it's just the 458 is so much sexier. Had a 2010 California. Absolutely amazing stock sound. The scud would be a blast, but your 458 will perform much better to slightly better in most areas so i'd go for something completely different (front engine )

Let us know what you end up doing, leasing to get a car in 6 months is... jumping to the front of the line and you're doing it much cheaper than I did... (bought a cali, sold it back to the dealer after 5 months, w/ only 500 miles on it... for a 25K loss) Ouch!!
